Is the 1921 Scottish census due to be published?

Yes...the question is when  :-\ It was expected post summer and we have Xmas soon knocking! I have my fingers crossed for next Wednesday when they have announced a shut down for maintenance www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=867672.0

Neale, I haven't seen details on 1911 posted either. May help.

Just found the death of the Margaret Devlin we have been talking about in 1919 in Hillhead. A daughter Mary Nielson (we didn't come across her before) reported her death. Parents James Devlin and Susan McMenemy.

In reply #9 on this thread, Tankflyboss writes that 1911 census shows John as born in England

Missed that  ::)

Just from the index on SP, a likely 1911 census entry for the family in St Giles, Edinburgh:

John 24
Katie 24
Margaret 4
Dennis 1

Hopefully, his 1921 census entry will give a more detailed location.

Gosh, tid-bits of information spread across multiple threads - makes it difficult!  ::)

I wonder if this birth was ever followed up.

Is this your John GALLAGHER?

;D Just been looking at that!

There are other births on the GRO with mother showing as DEVLIN in Gateshead.

Joseph 1880
Mary Jane 1881
Margaret 1884
John 1886 South Shields
Charles 1887

These are just some likely. Frustratingly, I can't find them so far on the census.

Well done, Neale  ;) Still can't see them in the censuses but at least a good possibility for the English angle we saw with just surnames. I think Hugh Gallagher and Ann Devlin married in Chester le Street, Durham in 1874 (10a/697).
