Robert Clinch/Absalom in North Berkshire
« on: Tuesday 11 January 22 16:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone.
Sorry for a long message, but just want to get the context right.

Dinah Mills was born 15th Apr 1795 in Sutton Courtenay, which is where she got married on 7th Dec 1817 to a man called Robert Clinch or Absalom (he is referred to as such in the marriage record).
From 1819 to 1834 they had 11 children born in Warborough, Oxfordshire. Robert is listed as a labourer.

In 1851 Dinah is widowed.

In 1841 there is a Robert Absolam living in Warborough. His age is rounded to 60 and he's an ag lab born in county. There's no Dinah, but instead a Mary age 45 born in county. (This could be Dinah with the wrong name or birth county).
Also with them are some children and grandchildren of Robert and Dinah.

I can't find a baptism record for Robert Absolam or Clinch in Oxfordshire and wondered whether the 1841 census information was wrong about his birth place too. Could he be from North Berkshire like his wife? I can't find him in Sutton Courtenay but perhaps somewhere nearby?

Can anyone help me locate a baptism in North Berkshire of a Robert Absolam or Clinch born around 1781?

I appreciate your time and help
Andy  :)

Not much help yet, however I have Robert ABSALOM of Warborough, son of Robert and Dinah in my tree - he married Elizabeth GOODENOUGH, a daughter of my ancestors John GOODENOUGH and Elizabeth LAWRENCE.

I haven't researched his line at all. Will have a look.  ;)

Certainly as the children in the 1841 seem to be those baptised to Robert and Dinah, I guess the name "Mary" is an error, or she was known by both names? I can't see Dinah in 1841.
