Thanks once again, I had not realised it was the ondertrouw and assumed that it took place at the NGK due to the wife possibly being reformed. It is great to have confirmation that they were catholic though.

The date can be pushed further to 1700 as the couple appears to be in Amsterdam where they baptised a son, Joannes Laurentius on 18 Feb 1700 in the Kerk de Toren.

Good find and another RC baptism! Gee he must have been hurting in SA :-)

This won't change your timeline, but I stumbled over 2 Dordrecht documents that were written up in 18699 .... so just before that 1700 baptism in Amsterdam.

I suppose that you already know that he is not mentioned in the 1704 SA Opgaafrol/Muster Roll, but that he turns up with 2 sons and a daughter in 1705. And with his new wife, 2 sons and a daughter in 1706 …

Yes thanks, that is why I assume that he likely arrived in 1704/1705, but the Opgaafrol has been known to miss families, so cannot be 100% sure.
