Unless a mistake was made by the informant, not sure if the death of son Ian Wilson in 1996 is correct. Mother's maiden name showing as Findlay rather than Craig. But mistakes do creep in as informants are known to make errors:

Ian WILSON
Age 71
Mother's maiden nae FINDLAY
1996
280/ 430
Elgin

Ignore this entry! Wrong one for sure given his age at death.

Jane's marriage in Dundee in 1985 is straightforward to find. Husband and Jane showing in the 2002-6 electoral rolls in Elgin area.

Thank you Monica.

I do have an Ancestry subscription at present. Scotland seems to present more obstacles to research. Could I enquire what resources you use for Scotland? Is it experience that counts in knowing where to look?

I was wondering how you searched for the newspapers, there are so many?

Thank again Brian

This is the source of the newspaper archives www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk  I too have a subs to Ancestry so I also had to take a separate subs to the BNA site. Find My Past have access to the BNA via their subscription. Have a look. There are all kinds of options for subscriptions.

The main (only really  ::)) source of BMD info for Scotland is, as you have found, www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk All roads will lead you there  ;)

I meant to ask from yesterday, do you know where and when Ian Alexander Wilson married? I couldn't easily see it on SP. He may have married elsewhere in the UK/abroad. His death, was this perhaps in Leeds in 1996?

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
