According to LIBINDX http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp the wife of Roy Alexander Wilson, Sheriff of Elgin, was Alison Mary Craig. She died in Elgin in 2009.

According to https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl Roy A Wilson married Alison M Craig in Ormskirk, Lancashire, in 1954.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you for this information. I do have Roy living alone in 5 Windsor St, Edinburgh ( from Electoral Rolls) in 1954 and he appears again in 1956 with Alison M. at 13 Mentone Terrace.

I'm just wondering, ....there are only two Roy A. Wilson's in Edinburgh but at no time does the Roy A. Wilson by himself appear at the same time as the one with Alison M. I'm thinking that both these may be the same person, one as a bachelor who left to get married in 1954, and came back in 1957 with his wife to Edinburgh.

Thanks Monica, that is very helpful.

I know the name of her other child, Ian Alexander Wilson, but did not know Jane's married name.

I need to find out now if Roy lived at 5 Windsor Street, in Edinburgh in March 1953. Perhaps I can contact Alison's daughter if she is still living. (Ian Wilson died in 1996)

Ian was married to a Linda Naylor but I haven't been able to find any record of her at all.

Do you have any suggestions for me and thank you for being so helpful. :)

Regarding Edinburgh, there is a brief mention of Roy Wilson staying there in the right period in a small obit for him (includes a photo) in the Aberdeen Press and Journal - Friday 7 June 1985. He had died the day before at the age of 57.

It mentions:

...He entered the legal profession in Edinburgh in 1952 and, in 1956, became a partner in the firm of Allan McNeil and Son, a position he held until his appointment to the bench...

Thank you, you are a genius.

Roy's son Ian was listed on his mother's Probate as a solicitor. He may have followed in his father's footsteps.

Can anyone look at the Aberdeen Press? I would love to see the photo.

Why would Roy have been called the Sheriff of Elgin?

Thanks Monica.

Why would Roy have been called the Sheriff of Elgin?

Because that was his job  ;) Perfectly suited for the job following his legal training. See here for example www.judicialappointments.scot/sites/default/files/Sheriff Role Profile.pdf for an explanation of the role.

There are many newspaper reports of him at work in Elgin in the court system. He was in the job for 10 years before his death in 1985 it seems
