trying to establish who Bessie Kavanagh is

Hi, would love a hand here as my brain is a bit scrambled.

My ancestor Catherine Kavanagh was born in 1858 to parents John and Mary Anne Byrne.

She had the following siblings:

Esther - c.1853
Edward - 1865
Francis Christopher - 1866
Anne - 1869
Sarah Anne - 1871
Joseph - 1872
James - 1875

On 3 of these birth certificates, the informant is a woman named Bessie Kavanagh who lives in the same place.

As far as I was aware, bessie was a nickname for Elizabeth, i suppose this could be a sister or a sister in law of John but as far as i was aware John only had 3 sisters, Anne, Martha and Mary, their parents were Francis and Esther.

So my question is, who could she be? any help would be really appreciated.


modified - i think they also had a son francis - however his spouse was named mary.

Do you have the marriage of John Kavanagh and Mary Anne Byrne Kavanagh?  Bessie could be John's mother or aunt/aunt by marriage.  That generation anyway. 

Sister of the father Francis Kavanagh or sister in law of the father Francis Kavanagh

On the baptism record 1833 (on Irish Genealogy) of John Kavanagh to Francis and Esther one of the Sponsors is here is an Anne Eliza Kavanagh. She might be a Bessie.  Have you found out who she is? 

There are later Anne Elizas on Irish Genealogy

A Bessie Kavanagh marries a Michael Shea at St Michael's Rathdown on 24/6/1878.

Actually if you go to Irish Genealogy and have a good poke around there you will find lots of entries - the civil records are picking up some older deaths.
