Family Search - New restrictions on viewing results?
« on: Sunday 23 January 22 22:51 GMT (UK) »
Have found an entry for an English 1871 census entry that I want to view the full index entry for (not the original which has never been available as we know).

It won't let me move to the extended index with the specific url that I can quote. I am getting this message:

We're unable to show this record to you.

This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies.

Anybody else getting this message?

Just did a quick check & I'm getting the same result as you Monica.  Wonder if it's a "blip".  Am just going to check other censuses.

fs definitely has a problem with the 1871 Census. For quite some time I have been unable to find entries which are easily available on other sites, and now I am getting the same message that MonicaL has quoted.

Thanks for all the comments  :)

Makes me feel better that it may just be the wobbles that the 1871 census can have.

Hi Monica

There does appear to be something going on. I just tried to find my great grandmother as a test and the same message you have received came up.

I have found this thread from The Family Search Community . A couple of points to note is that it seems that the contract with the TNA expired  last November ( they are now operating by general terms and conditions) and that there was an update to their 1871 census on Jan 19 2022. FindMyPast seem to be in the mix as well!

Thanks, William. That link is really helpful. What will not be helpful will be the likely outcome on this  :-\

I remember FS pulled all the Scottish census information off their site suddenly a couple of years ago. Similar issues were put forward as to the reasons, this time in connection with the Scottish custodians of info (NRS and Scotlands People etc.).

Always sad to see info that has always been free and easily accessable now being curtailed  :-\
