Ashley
Joseph (Josiah) Crowley died on 18 May 1864 in Christchurch from hydrocephalus, probably from complications of scarlet fever.
The rest of the family went to Melbourne in 1866 after the birth of William Joseph in Auckland.

At NZ BDM (online) death is listed as  >

1864/3922 - CRAWLEY - Joseph - 3 years  [date of death (deduced) = 18 May 1864 ]

....  Ashley - sorry,  thought you probably already knew how to work out the precise dates from the the online NZ BDM listings.    Probably I should have written, (and I usually do),  > " (deduced from the online death listing) ".   ;D
