Much more recently there were twin Buckland boys, George and Henry I think, who, in the late 1950s stayed in Hill Street, Ardrossan and briefly attended Eglinton Secondary School although the family were in a cluster of canvas tents on the north shore near Chapelton Farm.   Tragically, one of them was stabbed to death outside the Maple Leaf Hotel in the early 60s.  I can't recall which one but a newspaper search will find details, try Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald.
