Hi Pandacub.

Yes you have made enough postings.

When I look a surname I can see the "edit record" and it shows my surname and next to it the word edit with a symbol of pen and paper, you need to press the symbol and not the word "edit" can you try that.

Thanks for getting back to me.  I can get a list of my surnames but they do not have the word edit beside them or a pen and paper symbol.

When I click on it scroll down until you see some blue buttons, they start with "SIT - Home page" the 5th button along is "edit record" when I click that it comes up with my names that I have inputted. Next to the surname I can see the word edit and the symbol, do you see that ?? If not please describe what you are seeing.

All I get is a blank screen at the top with this text underneath:

One function of this database is to help RootsChat members to find (possible) common ancestors.
To contact other members, or for other members to be able to contact you,
you must be able to use the RootsChat Private Message (PM) system

Therefore you must be able to use the Private Message (PM) system before you can use this function.


The PM system will be available to you as soon as you have made 2 postings in the RootsChat forum.

Can you not see any blue buttons ?

I have taken a screenshot which shows an advert at the top, the blue buttons in the middle and the error message about the number of postings at the bottom.

I am sorry but I have only just spotted the image.

Are you logged in when you see this page ? I see "Hello Sarah you have....etc which you image does not.

What happens when you click on "edit record" ?

Yes I am logged in.  When I hit the edit button it just defaults back to the same image: advert at top, buttons in middle and error message below.
