Following up on this again, my relative had a 65cM match with a Christine Lloyd, whose mum appears to be a 'Dorothy Heaton'. Tracing it back, William M Heaton is related to Dorothy Heaton via first common ancestor John Heaton (b. abt 1791).. and the hypothesis is statistically possible.

Waiting on the marriage certificate.. though my inexperience says that this information increases the credibility for William M Heaton.

Just wanted to say thank you to all that contributed to this, I believe the mystery has been solved and I've written extensively on who I think it is, alongside a plethora of evidence I found after the fact. The best way was to learn how cM linkage works and look for the MRCA and go from there.

Were the calculations correct because painter took etc is based on full siblings children etc and most people who don't know father will only be half siblings .cousins to the DNA matches

I hope that makes sense .

Congratulations+ well done

Do tell how you came to conclusions

Ps my new 3rd cousin s mum told him that his birth father was called George WRIGHT from YORKSHIRE
I've found that he was actually Abiah from Lancashire.
Named after my ancestor  Abiah Roger JONES

An in. Law found a photo of young Abiah s brothers wedding. All 4siblings are in photo and 1 parent .just had to work out who was ours .
