My kettle is a Breville Impressions Electric Kettle which I've had a few years now.   I see it is still sold on Amazon - comes in white, cream and red (Viktoria).   The scale is on the side with the handle so suitable for both left and right handers.

Yes,some really dark mornings ,usually with rain.

Well an amaryllis my son passed to me ,I did as he said and put it in the shed
Looked this week and about a half inch of pale leaf showing ,so brought it inside and it is shooting up.No guarantee of a bloom though.
They used to be a pound or so but gosh up to £5 now!
Used to be a handy little present .

Lady who lost her son called this afternoon ,she is paying £26 an hour for someone to do her shopping, this organised by the local charity for blind and partially sighted people.
If the time goes over it is £10 each 15 minutes.
I described Online Shopping at Tesco ,how you pay £40 for six months delivery ,no limit as far as I remember to how many deliveries.
Her daughters are very busy ,but she does not even know if she gets the Winter fuel allowance !
Billls were paid by late son at the PO.
Has no idea about Direct Debits .
I understand her daughters are busy, both house hunting in different areas, and had their late brother’s affairs to sort out and dispose of his belongings etc.
But there is a limit to what I can do ,It would not be correct  for me to sort out her financial affairs ,but life would be so easy if they were all done by her bank.
She said the Council claimed the Council tax had not been paid ,fortunately
there were receipts for the payments her son had made at the Town Hall.
What a mess , I said her daughters could phone me if they wanted any info
but I would not handle any financial matters.

I feel very lucky I can still see, and payments are all organised .

Daughter sent a video of baby “ talking” ,gorgeous ,she was looking at her Daddy who was filming and really making sounds.
It is amazing how well she holds her head up .

I have written to Flash Harry ,he was so good on Saturday .
He loves getting letters .

Hey Ho ,sorted all the batteries out today.
Those that only lit up the tester a little bit have been put in a bag for the
dead battery bin in Tesco’s .
There were quite a lot! ::)

Well must get on , also must ask permission from grandson re sending photos of the great grandchildren to people .

Cheerio folks .
Look after yourselves.
Viktoria.

We are on our second Brevelle toaster oven, just got this one after Christmas.  Love it.  Our oven in the big stove takes forever to warm up; when we bought the house OH pointed out the appliances were not great - 11 years on and they are all still running.  We do use the toaster oven a lot.

We are in the throes of a major winter storm right now…just took the dog out, he does love it, but wet and sticky stuff.  Supposed to be about a foot by Friday morning.

Young family member tested positive recently but she was barely symptomatic and is back in school.  Another older member, different family group, is waiting for test results.  Heard today that our city had second highest Covid deaths in January compared to all other months since spring 2020.

Masks are still mandated here but restrictions loosening on restaurants, etc.  some medical folk are predicting another surge.

Having a glass of good Ontario wine and going to continue reading A Very British Murder by Lucy Worsley, then get the evening meal on.

Anyone else playing Wordle? Very addictive.

Lucky  you K G, I am  lucky if  I  get a decent  night's  sleep  at all when  my other  half gets in excess of 8 hours, very  frustrating and annoying, so, you will have to take  my word  for it that is is dark at 7am !!!
Any ideas on  how to get a decent  night sleep?

Nothing kept my OH awake!

He snored so much I have planned how to murder him!
He would not believe he did snore.
Worst of all he had sleep apnoea ,stopped breathing for minutes at a time .
I frequently was tempted to not shake him to make him breathe .
I said I would record him so he could hear how loud it was.
Thst annoyed him.I never did until at the specialist’s once I said how many times a night he stopped breathing ,guess what - I was told to record him!
A mask was made to keep his mouth closed ,but he hated it .

After his second stroke - relatively mild ones - he did use it a bit
then after a heart attack he could not sleep lying down so he had a good reclining chair and did sleep better in that, and the snoring was not so bad.
Poor man , but so stubborn about it.
I am not polishing his halo this week as I remember the hours I have lain awake, slept in the baths on holiday and gone downstairs to sleep on the couch.I was working and so tired sometimes.
What was funny once was our sparky little Patterdale  terrier , heard him ,was not sure but went to his chair and started to growl  at him !
Her hackles were up !

We had four bedrooms after the children were all in their own homes ,even in the smallest ,furthest away I could hear him.
However ,I think I now fall asleep with my mouth open ,wake up with a dry mouth .
Hope you get some sleep Louisa Maud.

Think   my other  half snores for England, he   must  wake  up  with  bruises  down  one  side  I  poke  him that  much and  so hard, my daughter  bought  him a machine   because  he  was  convinced  he  hardly slept, he was astounded  how  much sleep he actually gets  plus cat naps during the  day.
I try to read  something easy to read  before snuggle down  hoping it helps but it doesn't
But hey, ho, night night

Lack of sleep is a dreadful thing to cope with especially when you have to get up for work the next day!
When my OH had a shoulder and then hip operations I slept in the spare room just to give him the extra space he needed… when I had sepsis I slept in the spare room as I had restless nights… we found we were both having a much better nights sleep as I’m the one whole makes noises in my sleep that keep him awake…
So now we both have restful sleep in separate rooms… it’s a nightmare when we go on holiday 😂😂…
Rather than struggle on together being irritable in the mornings it has been a much better option for us…
I like to read late into the night too and that always disturbs him… he wakes early and that disturbs me… it’s interesting how one’s habits change as you get older!

Night all have a restful night.
