Help with photo time period

I am trying to identify the vintage of this photograph. Particularly noting the gathered, close fitting sleeves. Also, has anyone seen this "staging" before in family photos?

You would be best to place this on the photo dating forum, as previously mentioned.
Include the whole photo, without edges and corners cut off, and also include the back of the photo.
Yes, i have seen similar staging before, but can’t help with the date.

I think it's likely to be late 1870s - early 1880s  but my dating books are packed away. We usually give dating estimates on the Photoboard

Also, as has been suggested, it's best, if possible, to show all of the photo uncropped and the back. Both can give more clues to the date. We do try to give an estimate with whatever you have though
