I've had these versions for a quite a while so I don't know what is available online.

BTW this guy does not seem to be a calico printer, so maybe he is not the right one

As Neale1961 (reply#14) said earlier in the thread, by the 1850s, the calico printing industry was more or less winding down, so probably he had changed occupations to something similar. His wife's death record in Dunedin gives her husband's occupation as "tailor". btw in the 1851 scottish census his occupation is given as "Steamer"

Mary McCAULL nee McDONALD has strong, and ongoing  connection to the name RUSSELL.

You need to see this death certificate, NZ -

1918/17363   McCAULL   Mary Russell   79Y

Quite often the death certificate is the big reveal, the occasion when you find information that you had no reason to expect.

I have upon your advice ordered the printout version of the death cert. I hope it's worth it!

From Ancestry family trees for this McCAULL-McDONALD family, these names for their children -

Kenneth Cameron McCAULL

Frederick Woods McCAULL

Marcella/Jemima Copeland McCaull

You might reasonably see these to be family names identifying earlier generations of....who?....McCAULL or McDONALD?

What do you know of ancestry of Henry Michael McCAULL, the better to identify which side of the family WOODS, COPELAND and CAMERON are from?

All I know about the McCaull side is attached from my ancestry tree. They were all Irish.
I don't know anything bout the McDonalds before Alexander and Ann
