Thank you so much  Trish  such a detailed reply ,
So there 2 separate marriages for couples called  Eleanor and William one in Llanifair one in St asaph
Or could this be the same marriage ?
It’s still difficult to put Daniel in this family tree as I have his birth certificate with the parents above but no solid proof he belongs to them

Hi,

 A thought -

On the 1871 census you found which shows the name David instead of Daniel, it is perhaps relevant to say that there is no David Davies on the GRO birth records with a mothers maiden name of Davies in the St Asaph registration district for 1861.

The reference for Daniel is Sept Qtr 1861 Vol 118 Page 354 St Asaph, so it looks as if the name  may have been mistranscribed or misheard by the census numerator.

Alan Thank you so a much , this is what I’m hoping has happened
I want to put this family in my tree  but the Daniel/ David scenario is stopping me.
Thank you for the reply and for looking for David’s birth which doesn’t appear to be recorded
I do have Daniel’s birth certificate
Regards Val

Hi,

If you wanted to double check you can look at North Wales BMD for Denbighshire North (sub district St Asaph) and there is only Daniel (and no David) so I would think you are reasonably safe to concur its the correct family.

Interestingly, I have a Daniel Davies born 1860 in my tree, but with different parents. My Daniel was born Penmachno, which came under Llanrwst Registration then, sub-district Ysptty. Funnily enough there's no match for an 1861 census, although I have the others.
