Electoral Registers
« on: Sunday 06 February 22 16:12 GMT (UK) »
I know its a real long shot but I'm after some help or guidance, whilst looking into William Charles Ford  born 1899 i found him at 6 Sussex Grove, Norwood, if my understanding is right he is in the millitary, the giles' living there are his sister and her husband and they continue to into the 50's but in 1919 and 1920 a Thomas Charles Ford is also there.....is there any way I can find out who this Thomas Charles Ford is????

You don’t give any details of his siblings to rule Thomas out as a brother nor do you give the year you found him in Norwood Grove.  Was it the same years you mention for Thomas Charles?

Is it Norwood, Middlesex or Yorkshire?

Have you tried the 1921 census?

yes, I first saw William Charles in 1919 and then up to around 1932, there is a small a at the front of his name too, so i read this means absent voter, but its only 1919 and 1920 that Thomas Charles Ford is at this address, Thomas has an R for residence vote under parliamentary and a dash under local govt

The document says its dated 15th Oct 1919 and both Thomas Charles Ford and William Charles Ford are at 6 sussex grove, lambeth, The 1921 census has mary margaret (william charles' sister) and her husband and 2 sons, so no help on census :(

You haven't mentioned his father, can we assume it's not him?
The fact that they have the same middle name makes me think it was a close family member, although of course it doesn't have to be.

William Charles Ford Father was Thomas Ford, however he appears to be deceased from 1904, but also the later children including william charles were in and out of the workhouse and i cant find from 1901 onwards, but there is a settlement and relief letter where there is a discription of him saying his wife hasnt seen him since 11 aug 1902 when he was going to look for work and she has 2 out of youngest 3 children with her where charles is just3! but no documents about thomas ford have ever stated a middle name. thank you for your help
