Look at the schedule numbers for Falgrave Rd

The schedule number for number 9 is nowhere close to the schedule for "9B". I think that's number 93

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/search-address/streets?addressstreet=falsgrave&keywordsplace=scarborough%2c%20yorkshire%2c%20england&keywordsplace_proximity=5&datasetname=street%20results%20for%201921%20census%20of%20england%20%26%20wales&sid=598

Actually,  if you put the addresses in schedule order, I think that's number 91

I agree, if you follow the downward stroke of the 9 it curls upward to form the number 3. It could be a correction.

Thank you for all your suggestions.
I am still not sure which is correct.
Looking at 9 Falsgrave Road, it could be that the ground floor was a shop (No. 9) and the upper floors could be No 9B.
There are 8 people recorded in the house at the time of the Census.
I'll try and do some more research :-)

As Pauline has said, you need to look at the order of the schedule numbers. You can easily put these in numerical order on the FindMyPast address search.

The schedule number for this property is 28.

Schedule 27 is 89 Falsgrave Road, and schedule 29 is 95 Falsgrave Road.

To my mind this means that the number for the property in question is either 91 or 93.

So let us assume the number has been corrected. Looking at it logically, 93 would be more likely, i.e. the person wrote "1" and then wrote a "3" over the top. To me, the "3" somehow seems bolder, but maybe it is just wishful thinking.  ::)
It would have been better to strike it through and re-write the number, of course. But I can't help but think that it makes no sense to write a "1" over a "3" and leave it looking like a "B". If you see what I mean.

(Am I making sense?!  ::) )
