Tudor De Evelynge family
« on: Tuesday 08 February 22 11:43 GMT (UK) »
Morning all looking for some help with perhaps finding where I could access the whole parish record for this Tudor lady her name is Sibillan De Evelynge and she was married in Rickmansworth Herts in 1564 to a John or Joseph Gibbs I have all of his information and all of here's going forward from her marriage but just cannot seem to find a birth for her which was given as 1527. having done lots of digging online I can see the parish records still exist but no where can I find a place to write to access or visit to view them in the hope of a fathers name as I think that mothers names were not included then, hoping someone from there could point me in the right direction as her heritage has been a mystery to me for some time now. thanks in anticipation of a few pointers

You could try searching Hertfordshire names online

https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/libraries-and-archives/hertfordshire-archives-and-local-studies/hertfordshire-archives-and-local-studies.aspx

There are some records of Alice, George and Henry Eveling in Rickmansworth at about that time. I don't think I've seen the name Sibillan. Would that be Sybil or Sibyl (Sibylla in Latin)? For example there's a Sible Evelynge daughter of George Evelynge born in Rickmansworth in 1572. In Family Search batch C072795.

Here is a case in Common Pleas concerning Henry Evelyng, of Rickmansworth, in 1543.

Bucks. The master of the Savoy Hospital in Middlesex versus William Evelyng, executor of Henry Evelyng, of Rykmonsworth, Herts, for waste, or destruction of property Henry had for a term of years in Chalfount, Bucks.

This could be the Henry Evelyn of Rickmansworth, husbandman, registered will in 1536.
In Herts Names Online. His will might tell you more.

And this is the same guy, in a Common Pleas case from 1533.

London. Henry Evelyn, of Rikmersworth, yeoman, is the plaintiff versus Gregory Lovell, of Hardelyngton/Harlington, Middx, gent, for a debt of 20 pounds.

You can order a copy from the Hertfordshire Record Office.

Start here
https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/libraries-and-archives/hertfordshire-archives-and-local-studies/hertfordshire-archives-and-local-studies.aspx

Click on Search Herts Names Online

Surname Evelyn, Date range 1500-1550

You will get one result, for Henry. Add to shopping list. They send it by email, I suppose a pdf. The cost is about 10 pounds.

Mead - Herts, Bucks, Essex
Pontifex - Bucks
Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts
Kellogg/Kelhog - Essex, Cambs
