Isaac Blanch Kerby marriage?
« on: Tuesday 08 February 22 19:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about Isaac Blanch Kerby who was born about 1771 probably in Clerkenwell and died there in 1851 - but I think spent time as a watchmaker in Gloucestershire.
During previous research I have jotted down that he married Helen Prosser.  I think I found this from Ancestry but don`t have access anymore.  Could anyone confirm that for me?
I know that his parents were Isaac Kerby and Sarah Rosser.
(Incidentally - I do know I have committed the number one sin when it comes to Family Research - I didn`t make proper notes!)

He married Hannah Rosser 13 October 1795 St Leonard Shoreditch. Witness Robert Pearce, Sarah Kirby.

My assumption that Sarah was his sister not his mother

He was baptized 5 May 1771 St John the Baptist .

Children of Isaac Blanch Kerby and Hannah all at St John the Baptist Clerkenwell

Sarah Susanna bap 15 Sept. 1799 born 1 Sept. 179? looks like a 2 but this was before they married so possibly a 6
(notes she married Thomas Grabham wd. 21 August 1837 Bath Somerset.)
Isaac Blanch Kerby bap 22 October 1804 born 20 March 1799
Mary Ann Matilda bap 22 October 1804 born 2 March 1801

This sounds very familiar Kerby

Thanks very much.  That is very interesting and also puzzling!  Isaac Blanch Kerby`s parents definitely were Isaac Kerby and Sarah Rosser - they were married on28 Jul 1770 at St Marys, Newington.  I had that information from London Marriages and Banns on Ancestry.  I have seen the baptism record for another of their sons, Benjamin, which confirms parents as Isaac and Sarah

Maybe Isaac Blanch Kerby was already related to Hannah Rosser before he married her?

I don't understand your confusion.
The children I listed are of Isaac (2) and his wife Hannah.
------
Isaac Kerby (1) married Sarah Rosser 1770

His son Isaac Kerby (2) married Hannah Rosser 1795

They carried the middle name of Blanch (Blank)

In helping someone else I suggested they are descendants of John Kerby who married Ann Blank in 1719.

The Rosser family connection is another topic.
----------------
They also seem connected to the Pearce family.
When Isaac (2) married the witness was Robert Pearce
When his sister Sarah married John Morgan 1795 in Gloucester the witness was Hannah Pearce.
-----------------------

Thanks again - sorry amondg - I meant more surprising than confusing - I wasn`t expecting 2 generations to marry women called Rosser.

I`ve now found Isaac Blanch and his wife on the 1841 Census - listed as a watchmaker in Coleford.  I believe she died later that year and he returned to Clerkenwell
Interestingly, there are  "Rossers" on the same page on the 1841 census
