possibly you know all of this but:

There are records of him (ie JW Vincent, no other info) sailing from Liverpool:
1902 Forcados
1904 Forcados
1906 Burutu
1908 Forcados
1909 Forcados
1911 Forcados

there is also a JW Vincent sailing from London to Bombay in 1925, engineer age 56, last permanent residence 'other parts of British Empire' and gives an address in England of 29 Brixton Hill SW2

I’ve found a will and other details of this person which appear to rule him out: he was also in India during the period of the various sailings to West Africa.

I don't think that's your man on the going to Forcados in 1902.

But it appears he did go to South Africa around that time.

There's a tree on Ancestry that has two more children born in South Africa in 1904 and 1908, and WJV's death in 1935. There's a photo of his gravestone "born Helston Cornwall Nov 15th 1868".

Now I’m confused: is it John William as in the subject, or is it William John?

@ShaunJ Forcados is a place, not a vessel
