The Oakley family in Penkridge

I have made good progress in tracing my Oakley family in Penkridge back to Edward born c 1770 using FamilySearch. Edward married Mary Richards in Penkridge.I would be most grateful for any pointers to put me back on track.

Graham, you should join YE OLDE PENKRIDGE Facebook, I do belong.  Will do the link to Penkridge St Michael’s Church, which does list all the burials in the Churchyard and do include Oakley’s .  A lady  (HUSSELBEE) in Oz is looking for relatives for these families.

Lots of discussions, photo’s etc.  even recently on this long standing Penkridge family.

Colin OAKLEY was our old neighbour, and he lived in the same cottage his family had lived for generations.  There are many photographs of the family on Ye Old Penkridge Facebook, which you can search for, including photos of Edwin "Teddy" Oakley (1855-1930 and wife Eliza (nee FISHER) 1862-1926 photograhed at their Penkridge Home - Wyre Hall Cottage, Cannock Road.  etc.

Fragments from the History of Penkridge (which is under the website) timespast, available to read is the whole book on line and has the 1901 census showing Edwin OAKLEY, being the rural postman etc. etc.

Under Estate Workers ( who would be working on Teddesley Estate for the Littleton family).

OAKLEY Andrew - 1886 small farmer 19 acres
OAKLEY David - 1863-67 Drayton, employed on Teddesley Farm, bricklayer
OAKLEY Edward - 1867 Penkridge, employed on Teddesley Farm, roadman, 70.
OAKLEY Elizabeth - 1866 - small farmer, 19 acres

This gives a birth year c 1762.

If born c 1770 he would then have only been 16 when he and Mary married 1786.
