Degge Family in Uttoxeter
« on: Thursday 17 February 22 02:36 GMT (UK) »
I’ve traced my direct line back to the Degge family in Stramshall/Uttoxeter from the1500’s-1700’s. Would appreciate any information on baptisms, marriages, burials, etc… of Thomas Hodge Degge, Thomas Bayliff Degge, Sir Isaac Degge, and John Degge (emigrant).

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Rootschat

Given the timescale - have you looked on Family Search for records?

www.familysearch.org

There is a Thomas Hodges Degge tree on Ancesty - born 1518-died 1563

Also a tree for Thomas Bayliffe Hodges D’Egge 1583-1650

Perhaps you could have a look at them for further info

Not used if you used: Google Boogle in your research

Google Books

Searching for Degge UTTOXETER

A number of early books come up - with the Degge family - one book talks about John DEGGE son of isaac Degge etc - patented land in Virginia 1673

Appreciate the help. There were four consecutive Thomas Degges in the line and Thomas Hodge and Thomas Bayliff we’re definitely two of those.

I am also looking into the Degg family of Uttoxeter in the year 1762. See my post dated today today in the Staffordshire forum.
I am trying to find this family to ask if they know the whereabouts of a teapot last recorded in 1901. It is marked "M.D. Uttoxeter" beneath the lid and the base has "M. Degg Mar 1762"
I presume the surname is the same family.
