William Richards Doward, Whitchurch, Herefordshire
« on: Thursday 17 February 22 12:02 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone give me any info on William Richards born 1808 Whitchurch. Herefosrdshire, he married in 1832, i think he lived at Doward close to Monmouth. His son  Thomas Charles Richards born 1835/1836 was married to Harriet Price 1855. Their daughter MARY JANE RICHARDS was my great grandmother and she married Thomas Williams (born 1856 Blaenafon, son of George Williams).
Can anyone tell me also where William Richards is buried and where his son Thomas Charles is buried.
Any help much appreciated
Ken

No info in your post as to when  & where William Richards & Thomas Charles Richards died.

Have you checked census entries to see when they each last appear?

For info only in view of the boundary between Herefordshire & Monmouthshire

Williams' 1847 death was registered in Monmouth
Thomas Charles was registered just as Thomas in Abergavenny

I've just been doing some digging as I was not convinced about the 1888 death

There is no 1855 marriage to a Harriet Price - that marriage was to Harriet Richards.

1861 & 1871 show Thomas & Harriet both b Whitchurch etc but all children have mmn Richards & there is no Mary Ann on either census.  1871 shown as Richard (correction notified)

1871 has a 10mth old daughter Louisa who was actually Emma Louisa.  A tree on Ancestry has her parents as Thomas Charles Richards & Harriet Morris

GRO online shows mmn as Richards

So we now have 3 maiden names for Harriet - Price/Richards/Morris???

In 1881 they are in Llanfoist & Thomas has suddenly aged to 55.  RD is Abergavenny so 1888 death appears correct.  However - I doubt he is the Thomas Richards you are looking for as he never had a daughter Mary Jane.

Daughter Ada b 1877 incorrectly shown as Eda on 1881 entry.  GRO online shows mmn Richards

If Mary Jane was your g/grandmother - how have you linked her to this family?

On no census is Thomas shown as Thomas Charles nor do his marriage or death reg have a middle name

If I have the right marriage - Mary Jane Richards & Thomas Williams married 1880 so you will know from both the 1881 & 1891 entries that Mary was b Blaenavon 1861

How did you arrive at her parents being Thomas & Harriett as there is no supporting census entry?
