There is an incoming passenger record for Maud M A Smith and Mr John Smith in 1933 from Yokohama.  It is difficult to read but their residence is Staffordshire.

Looking at Staffs, there is an interesting entry in 1939 register for Maud M Smith, Staffordshire. We aren’t allowed to give information from the register.

I am just confirming, hopefully, this previous information.

Having seen the CWGC entry for John Oscar Noel Smith https://www.rootschat.com/links/01rbj/ where the address is Lower Gornal, I see that the immigration record address is also L Gornal.

Hi
I cant seem to see the record for the Yokohama trip for John and Maud, is it on Ancestry or FindMyPast?
Also they had a daughter called Karin in 1921, the name Karin is Swedish for Catherine, just thought i would share that bit of info with you x :)

Yes I noticed re Karin. I wonder then if she is the daughter of Francis Scott b Sweden so had Swedish ancestry herself.

I found the reference to Yokohama on Ancestry -  UK and Ireland, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960

There are few details - just their address in Lower Gornal. I think John was a salesman and Maud, a housewife.

Hi,

I am possibly a bit late to the party but my Grandmother was Karin Anna Smith (married name Bell).  I am trying to find out about Maud too and hitting a bit of a brick wall, I just about passed out when I saw this thread :)

I might be able to help with info and get some at the same time
