So we have 2 born in 1913, both called Hugh Owen Roberts in Holywell.
I assume the 1921 entry is correct as birth is recorded as Newmarket.
The only marriage I can find is:
Marriage: Jul-Sep 1941 . Hugh O Roberts . Mair E Foulkes . Holywell . Volume 11b . Page 571
But, that might also be the other Hugh. Nothing for Hughie.

I can only find one Hugh/Hughie Owen Roberts born in Holywell in 1913 with mmn Jones. He appears with his father/mother and brother John Edward Roberts 1920-1997 on the 1921 census.

Can you direct me to the other you have found in 1913.

John

June qtr 1913 Holywell - Hugh O Roberts mmn Owen.  This is the Hugh Owen Roberts who is on the 1939 register with parents & died 1971 birthdate 28.3.1913. See earlier replies

There is no 1939 or death entry with the birthdate given in the opening post - 25.6.1913

However - if he died before 1969 the full birthdate won't be shown

As an adult - he may have abandoned Hughie in favour of just Hugh

My Grandparents were married 12/4/1913, in the Parish Church, Newmarket, County of Flint, my Uncle was born 25/6/1913, High Street, Newmarket, my Dad, John Edward Roberts was born 13/9/1920 died 24/9/1997, Edinburgh. My Grandad died 12/12/1922, Black Boy, Newmarket, my Gran died 1967, Rhyl, my Dad had a sister Eva Maud born 19/6/1914, High Street, Newmarket, died 24/9/1991, Shotton, North Wales, they had a half sister Margaret Ellen Jones, born 19/6/1909, Mostyn Terrace, Newmarket, died 23/11/1999, Rhyl. I am certain Hughie was single and died after my Gran, which would be between 1967 and 1971.

I have looked for deaths from 1960 to 1988, the last one offered by FreeBMD.
Those before 1969 have an age recorded, but none count-back to 1913.
I looked for Hugh O, Hughie and Hugh/Flintshire and found nothing.
It seems the family were close and he had a birth certificate, so his age/DOB on the death certificate should be accurate.
Something does not add up.
If he was estranged from the family, or in a hospital etc. and a non-family member registered the death, they may not have known the exact details. But, to die between 1967 and 1971, he would only be 54 or 58, which is not a great age.

Do you have any actual proof that Hugh was still alive when his mother Fanny died?   I notice you say your dad died in Edinburgh.  When did he move to Edinburgh?  Did he & Hughie keep in touch?

My Uncle never married. I am certain he definitely died after my Gran, I do recall my Dad receiving news about his Mum’s death, my Dad traveled to Wales to attend the funeral. My brother is sure it would be between 1967 and 1971. My Grandad was only 32 when he died so if Hugh/Hughie was 53/54 it is a relatively a young age.
