Welcome to Rootschat  :)
Could you post the correct dates so we can try to find information of give advice- Michael couldn't have gone to South Africa 15 years before he was born.
If the family were Catholic you might find a baptismal record in the online (free) Parish Registers but dates of surviving records do vary-

Did Michael marry in South Africa or before he left Ireland? see next post
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LBBB-K7K (born 1852 Ireland, father John McNamee, m.1882 S.A. to Theresa Byrne)

Firstly sorry about my dates error

THank you ever so much for the information on Michael Maxwell McNamee

He is my great grandfather and discovering his fathers name as well as his wifes name Theresa May Byrne is a huge plus

Theresa was born 1861 in County Wicklow

Is there anyway of determining when they emigrated from the Belfast Port to Durban South Africa?

The Catholic graveyard site in Durban was very useful listing the death dates of several other McNamee family members

These family searches are all new to me
Have a great day
Vernon

I just suggested on your new topic that you start with South Africa records and sure enough the information in Michael's estate file shows details you will need to really start searching in Irish records.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLRL-S6L8
Birthplace given as Drapers Town, County Londonderry, Ireland [Draperstown].

Baptisms for Ballinascreen R.C. Parish start 1825- there are gaps but looks like Michael's baptism could be there-
