Thank you all so much for all the information, with regard to the question including a census return with all the children, yes that is my family, Herbert was my grandad.
Interesting that Elizabeth was born out of wedlock too.
I did try to find an Eliza Wood with a father Robert but no luck as yet, same with regard to John Dawson with a father William,
I am intrigued by the fact that they went back and forth from Liverpool to Lisburn.

Found Elizabeth Woodward  (Dawson) on the 1921 census and see she has Antrim down as place of birth.
I am wondering about the circumstances of her birth now especially with the gap between her birth and her "parents" marriage being a few years apart.
Can't seem to find any record of her birth at all
Quite new to the 1921 census and scrolled down a bit to see that it has Transcribed birthplace as Belfast Antrim. Would this mean it as a centralised register of birth or actual birthplace?

In theory "Belfast" would have been her actual birthplace or at least what she said it was. Perhaps she thought she was born there, as were some of her younger siblings, if it was the first place she remembered living.
I think it was asked previously, apologies if you've already answered, but have you searched for her birth in England. Free BMD is a great place to start but once you find possible births then you can check GRO's own index to see mother's maiden name (if parents married) or if no maiden name entered (illegitimate).

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Great advice, sometimes I forget the other resources available and go straight to Ancestry or Family Search, will go look.
Thanks very much for getting back to me.
