on her marriage certificate her name is ellin but on the censuses her name is Ellen. so I'm looking at both names

Ellen husband Thomas died in 1887, if Ellen died before Thomas would it say wife of Thomas and if she died after Thomas would it say widow of Thomas?

"widow" or "relict" of ... if after he died. But it perhaps depends where this is being recorded.

There is a burial again on freereg for Mary jones aged 28yrs in Llanwnda 03 November 1883 the same date as Ellen jones. yet there is a death index number for Mary, 11B 296 Dec Qtr. is it possible, that burial for Ellen Jones is a mistake
