It looks like he was born in Canada; here is the link to his family in 1911:

https://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?app=Census1911&op=pdf&id=e001998793

Note his Dad's lineage is Irish, and Mom (Martha Moody, from his birth reg), is Scottish.

Second ex-wife Elizabeth Colquoun can be found in a couple of nursing registers (1943 Glasgow, and 1954 Yoker).

this is amazing!! thankyou for all this information on Alexander Cecil Bell (My Grandfather) and his siblings. I was thinking he passed away around 1950s after my father was born in Ottawa as none of my family ever spoke of him.
would you know where I would search to try locate him incoming/ departing Glasgow where he married my grandmother?

The passenger lists viewable at the Canadian Archives only go to 1922ish, after that the pay sites have taken them over.  I will try to poke around this weekend and see if anything comes up, but I suspect it was the war that drew him across the pond, so it may have been a troopship.

I did just find Alexander's father's death registration, he is listed as James SAMUEL Bell.
If you register (free) at Familysearch, you can view the image, lovely and clear, and gives his parents.

thankyou if you could have a look that would be fantastic and WOW that certificate is really clear. It came through right at the right time as was just wanting to check that James Samuel Bell was defiantly his father. I noticed in Alexander Cecil Bells obituary his father was named as Samuel however the more of the newspaper articles I read I started to notice the boys were all named by their middle names.

Martha Moody and James Samuel Bell marriage:

There are lots of free records for the family there; just keep searching all the siblings names.

Have fun with it!

To Bikermickau:

My apologies!   I had bounced in here from the thread on the Canadian board, and didn't realize I was repeating findings (from Familysearch) that you already posted.  I think I am now caught up on all the posts. So sorry!
