ALTON - Burial. 1880
« on: Friday 04 March 22 23:51 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Henry Smith died 25 April 1880 in Winchester and is said to have been buried at Alton.
Could someone check for his burial and any details, please.
Many thanks

If no response - as you know his actual date of death you could check with the records office

Thanks - yes.  I have scoured Ancestry records, but they are not good on Hampshire.

You say "is said to be buried in Alton"  Are you taking that info from somebody else's tree.  If not - where have you got the info from?

If you check freebmd - the death was registered in Winchester RD which doesn't cover Alton - Alton was a separate RD.

He was living in the Alton RD in 1871

Hi Carole,

Thomas Henry Smith was my Great Great Grandfather. My father - frequently unreliable on these matters - stated that Thomas Henry was buried at Alton, along with his wife, Eliza Ann Judd, who was buried at Alton 10 Aug 1871 - I have a copy of the register entry.

As you know where & when his wife was buried you can ask the RO if William is in the same grave
