DROMORE TYRONE - MOORE - Look up please
« on: Monday 07 March 22 02:32 GMT (UK) »
I would like to purchase the birth cert for John Moore to allow me to rule in or out a strong family connection.

The 1911 census has John living in Church Street Dromore, aged 8 with his unmarried mother Lizzie Moore, aged 37.  Stated religion is Church of Ireland. That is the only record I've been able to locate given the common name (I assume).  I have no information at all on Lizzie but if I can buy his birth record, that might help me track her also.

(Given the 1921 census issue, that won't be an option for more information).
He married in Omagh in 1930 to Winifred Garrity.  I know they had 4 children prior to separating.  I cannot locate a divorce record and although unconfirmed, believe he died in Manchester around 1967.

I would appreciate any input PLEASE as to my next step.

I would root around on irishgenealogy.ie At least it's free.

Did he give a father’s name on his marriage?
Were the witness names helpful - Moore?
What address did he give?

Could this be an older child of the same Lizzie Moore?
William John born 1900 Dromore- mother Lizzie Moore-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1900/01975/1761081.pdf
Or did Lizzie put wrong age on 1911 census form? (can't see a death for William John Moore 1900-1911 but also can't find him in 1901 census)

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Just revisited marriage certificate.  It was actually in Dromore.  No parent names for John.  Witnesses Sarah P Davis and an unclear name, but similar to Raly Varis/Davis?.  These names are unfamiliar.  I'm aware that Winifred's parents were very much against the marriage and they remained distant for some years.  I was told it was due to religion.  Winnie was Catholic.  'full age' was written for both.  I have a gut feeling there's more to it which is why I'm after more details on John.  If I'm right with my theory, it would explain so so so much more.

It's hard for me to get a hook into the right line and connect any dots with others, but every bit helps.  You're right about the possibility of another child, which I haven't explored, but the Moores appear to be in the area.  I'm also aware, that bending the truth to breaking point was certainly rife!!

Thanks all, I some more avenues to pursue.
