 . . . . . . some may find it interesting.   I know I did.   :)

I have a couple of old photos in my family history records which I believe were made using the Daguerreotype method.

That's a really interesting link Wiggy, Thanks for posting. The one I have is in a union case but it's an Ambrotype. Not a relative though, I bought it from an antique shop in Keswick, he had £45 on it but I turned it down, when I went back a couple of days day later he said I could have it for £35 if I was still interested. That was about 10 years ago.

Wow...That is really interesting, it's filled in a few gaps, I have a book called The Birth of Photography, The story of the formative years 1800-1900 by Brian Coe, Curator of The kodak Museum - 1976.
I paid the princely sum of £2.50 from a car boot sale.. I looked at the credits and hoped to find John Ennis but no mention  ::)

It's worth buying for those interested in early photography.

Do you mind if I print it off Erato?

Of course not.  He would be pleased to know that someone was interested.  [It is a terrible photo of him.  I don't believe I ever even once saw him in a white lab coat.  They must have tarted him up to look more scientific for the article.]

Thanks for that, I didn't find his photo until the last page. You must be so proud. The chemical processes in the beginning I find fascinating. So much was learned by accident too.

I must put a visit in here:
