All I know from the 1891 census is that he was born James William, in 1887 in Ireland…
1901 census, he’s still at home but known as James, but still 1887 in  Ireland..
The 1911 census I have for him, (but don’t know if correct)’ he’s in downham, still names James, birth date still 1887 but says he was born at sea…..The reason I chose this census was because somebody told me he married a Frances Cooper in downham later on, but don’t know if correct…

Marriages- Jan./Mar.1929 Downham (vol. 4b, page 576)
Cooper    Frances    Law
Law    James    Cooper

Thank you…I do have all the information on his marriage and beyond,  but not 100% sure it’s the correct James

The marriage certificate should list his father's name (luckily Abel is is fairly uncommon).

His first marriage was 1911 to Edith J Batson.
She died in 1929.

I can’t find any parish records to check to see if he is the son of Abel.

Ok…good news….I brought the 1921 census on James…he was born in Hilldere, Ireland…on the census he is 24 years 7 months…Also there is Edith from ten mile bank, Norfolk aged  30 years 3 months…plus a daughter, not sure of the spelling but looks like Adeneth from ten mile bank Norfolk aged 4 years 8 months 😁

Years ago I drove down ten mile bank not knowing I was close to an ancestor…

Just putting the information on my tree, his age is wrong on the census, it should be 34 not 24

I wonder if perhaps the birth might be Kildare?

The daughter is Asenath b 1916.

You need to check that this is the right James - with Abel as father.

I don’t know where else to look to find out if this is Abels son James…I tried Irish as he was born there, 1886/87..then shows up in England 1891 census aged 4…I’ve also checked Abel and Ellen…any other ideas?
