Yes, everything you have written down is correct….

Abel father was named James William…The law family (Which is on my mother’s side) all came from Clavering Essex for generations….

And we know James (1887) was Abel’s son as on marriage certificate… He was 24 in 1911..
James (1886) was William’s son on birth certificate…

The thing that bothers me is that William has a very good, long standing service record, why would he make out he was somebody he might not have been?

But it’s a very big coincidences that both Abel and William both come from Clavering, Both marry a Ellen Donnelly from Kilkenny, and both have a son called James William with virtually the same birth date…

Also I think the “Hilldere” would be Kildere, just like my “Kilkenneth” turned out to be Kilkenny 🤣🤣

Does the military record show where William enlisted?

Throughout the record are there any other places mentioned? You have Clavering and Kilkenny - just wondered if anything else.

So if he was transferred to home as a reserve would that work out?

Witnesses Mary Dwyer & what looks like William Vorley.
Could it be that he had married in March without permission from his commanding officer as William Thompson of Royal Artillery then went through another ceremony in December?

When we are talking about William transferring home in 1893…I’m not sure as not finding him anywhere…but if he was Abel, Abel was missing off census from 1871-1891…then showing up on the 1891 census with Ellen and James in Clavering…..but I will now go and see if I can find anything on William

I have misunderstood that.
I thought it might mean - home in 1887 then being a reserve until 1893.
I think a reservist would live a  civilian life at home.

Perhaps you might want to ask on the Armed Forces board.
