I have been following this thread hoping that there will be an explanation.
I have also searched trying to find one.

It seems that the road is called Water Barrack  (no ‘s’). The maps seem to indicate this.

There are references to its potential for flooding. Does Barrack have an alternative meeting rather than a connection to the military?

Hi
Thank you all for your replies.. I emailed the Library in Kilkenny and they say the Waterbarracks were housing and that in medieval times the open grounds were used for archery.  The description they gave is a lot like your replies so thank you again.
Regards
Lynne
