Thomas McDonnell and Rosanna Lynch
« on: Sunday 13 March 22 17:01 GMT (UK) »
Would appreciate any help with Thomas McDonnell (b. c1858 Westmeath) and Rosanna Lynch (b. c1869 Meath). my gt-gt granparents. They had 6 children in Dublin but i cannot find a marriage record at all. Thomas and Rosanna lived in Cook street in Dublin in 1900 and 1902 but i cannot find them in the 1901 census at all. Thomas was a labourer.

Also, would them having such a large age gap maybe contribute to the fact they mightn't have married officially? their daughter Rosanna was my gt grandmother. her mother (Rosanna Lynch) died when she was young and wasnt mentioned much. would appreciate any help or suggestions as to why they wouldnt have married.

Thanks!

them in the 1911 census:

Hello,

When Jane Esther was born in 1897, the family were living at 29 Cooke Street

The same address for Catherine in 1900

I can see Cook Street in 1901 and (part Cook Street) but no 29. It looks as though there are several missing entries.

yes, the census issue is very frustrating. ive emailed the national archives asking about the missing entries for cook street and they didnt really have an answer. Ive found a burial record for Rosanna Lynch so im hoping it might reveal something else.

Burial record says Rosanna, Jane Esther and Thomas are all buried together. does not reveal much else.

When did they die? Who was the informant on the deaths?

My Westmeath McDonnells changed their name to McDonnell from McDaniel around the 1870s/80s and this seems to have happened with other families in different parts of the country, might be worth keeping in mind.
