Alfred George Cox
« on: Friday 18 March 22 13:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi to all, I would like some help please in locating some information regarding my Grandfather Alfred George Cox. born 12th July 1884 in Saffron Walden, Essex. He was in the Royal Artillery Gunners or Horse, not sure about that. I was told that he had served in Palestine and/or Egypt. I have been in contact with Military Archives and nothing has come up for him, after many wrong ones. Someone on British Genealogy stated that the photo I added was taken after January 1918 meaning that he hadn't been in WW1, big query! I also know that many records for WW1 were destroyed. Any help and I would be grateful. Alfred is the one behind the wheelbarrow

There was an Alfred George Cox who served as a Gunner in the 258 Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery with a service number of 109873. I have attached an image of his Medal Index Card and his entry in the Medal Rolls (both images courtesy of Ancestry)
