I think the first and third say mother so perhaps it is whomever registered the birth, the last word of the middle registration seems to be aunt so perhaps her mother's sister.

There's a section "Understanding Church registers" -
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/guides/church-registers#Contents

FindMyPast has a transcript of the record - but the final column has not been transcribed.

Thank you both for your help its very much appreciated.

I haven't been doing any family history for some time now and came across this record which
had me a bit puzzled,  so it could possibly be  a relative who went along to register the birth.

Maybe a step closer  :)

The fathers' occupations and the last column appear to have been added to the original register.  Is the first word in the last column's header "Name"?  Could it be the name of the person after whom the child is named?  The entries shown seem to fit that theory, does it hold true for the others on the page?

Morning
I think it says ‘Amelia ****(surname Nula, Bula , Butler) aunt’
I’m guessing the child was named after her aunt and she was given the honour of registering the child.

Hi,

Could it be Amelia Mater. Aunt (as in maternal)?

Hi all,

The whole page runs pretty much the same so I think the name of the person whom the

child is named after is a very good idea.

One entry reads John KIDD, Weaver, Isabell NICOL, Parents. Child named Mary, the name in the
right hand column  (well what it looks like to me now) Mary NICOL  cousin. ???

Thank you all,

These little mysteries don't stay mysteries for very long not when you post them on this site.

The expertise available here is invaluable.
