You have my sympathies Phil!

I've spent more time than I care to admit to puzzling over my paternal DNA matches... ???

Some new matches popped up after Christmas which link back to the same family, but sadly, beyond a mild interest in the ethnicities, they don't seem interested in pursuing Trees, etc.

I'm hoping that more people will test on the Mother's Day Offer, and that one of them will be a missing link!  ;D ;D ;D

Have you found Richard Kean after 1881?
He has the same occupation as William, if I recall?

Yes heywood,

He signed up with The Manchester Regiment (Militia) in 1886, but disappears after that.

Unless he's the Richard Kean in The Royal Engineers at Cheriton Barracks in Kent on the 1891 Census...

Richard Kean born 1860 in Manchester married Mary Ann Young in Hulme in September 1880 and they had three children. Mary Ann Kean died aged 29yrs in 1891.

I think that man was younger, as in WW1?

Of the 3 children born to Richard and Mary Ann Kean, Joseph died as a baby.

Richard Kean (Senior) took the 2 girls to the workhouse in 1891.

I lost track of Mary Agnes Kean, but Catherine Kean emigrated to Massachusetts, married, but died young with out children.

Ive altered my earlier reply about  definition of relationships

Have got a few examples of finding out relationships after many years
that i hope will inspire and have written posts about them ..wont put on here as it might confuse people looking at your specific case

but will add a link because grandfather had 4 siblings  some of whose children were brought up in different families . + had illigitimate children themselves

grandfather JONES had a son with first wife
married a  SMITH lady with two of her own  LEA children
and they had 7 children together .this his hers ours family was well researched by a cousin brought up by grandparents herself .

some  descendants of  MY his /hers /ours cousins + half cousins  have tested
as have full second cousins , brought up by parents ..adopted ..and brought up by birth father
and now child  nephew . cousins child

so i have a lot of examples of halves .removed
 second + third .

+ also experience of SurNames not fitting with paper trail or dna lines
+ many many  Jones marrying JONES + people following paternal line back instead of female s

Here's the link to our Welsh DNA success stories
I didn't get many replies because
A)!the original title was ambiguous
B) I had it transferred to welsh  board.so future relatives might see it

A lot of people seem to be asking this kind of question at the moment
