You have restored my faith in the advertising industry.  It's a shame about her father, though.

Having looked online at advertising postcards, there are a couple of Glaxo Babies. I think this girl was just in fancy dress and not advertising the product.
I do vaguely remember the brand though..and the boat shaped, double feeding bottle.
Carol

Apparently I was described as a Glaxo baby - not because my mother used the products, but because I was FAT! People actually liked their babies to be fat in those days, as it was supposed to show that they were well fed in times of food restrictions.

Yes I remember the "Bonny Bouncy Baby" tag given to chubby babies that were seen as healthy and thriving, not so today, they would be classed as overweight, my son would certainly fit that category, no matter how much I fed him he was always hungry, but, he was never still and not much has changed  ;D

We went each week to the Baby Welfare Clinic .
Babies weighed and progress checked ,hearing tests and development of
co ordination etc .
Milestones were charted and weight gain advised on.
A seven pound baby will triple its birthweight at one year .
My first walked at eleven months so was 19 1/2 pounds .
At twelve weeks they usually weigh 12 lbs .
Just average milestones but good guidelines.

We got slightly cheaper baby food and the usual Orange juice and
Cod liver oil .
I liked going ,it was an outing ,also the Ante Natal clinic was there ,you got to know your Midwife ,well those of us who opted for home births.
We got our vitamins too and iron tablets .

Overweight babies always seemed to be quite ill, chesty during teething times.
Viktoria.

Fat or not, I was rarely ill as a youngster, didn't even catch scarlet fever from my brother, though I did have measles, chicken pox, whooping cough and German measles later.  I was a skinny teenager despite my chubby infancy.
