Looking for info on a great aunt.
« on: Friday 01 April 22 20:10 BST (UK) »
I’ve been building my family tree for a few years now but I am intrigued as to what happened to a great Aunt who, after the 1911 census, seems to have disappeared. Her name was Beatrice May Tregilgas and was born in October 1897 in Bodmin, Cornwall. She was born out of wedlock to my great grandmother, Edith Tregilgas who was married in 1900 to my great grandfather Charles Henry Brain Harrison. She retained the surname Tregilgas and was mentioned in the 1901 and 1911 census’. From there on I can find no trace of her, no marriage, no death and I have even looked up on ship passenger lists to see if she might of emigrated, but could find nothing there either. Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Do you have an exact date of birth for Beatrice.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Have you checked the 1918 marriage of Beatrice M Tregilgas  to Fred Hammer, St Austell?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I did see that one and she died in 1951 but was born in 1885

Thanks Osprey, that really does look like her. I had wondered if she would use Harrison but thought if she was still Tregilgas at 13 in the 1911 census she would probably stick with that name.

Also a possible son to the couple. Horace's middle name was Victor and there's a birth registered in Bodmin in 1938 of a Victor W Jago mmn Harrison but sadly a burial 2 Aug 1838 in Bodmin of Victor Wymon Jago aged 1 month.

Horace Jago was from Bodmin as well. Perhaps there was an assumption that her surname was the same as her mother's somewhere along the way.
