Hi

Many thanks for your interest but I have not managed to get any further with that line of inquiry.  I have a notion that the Edward you mention, who lived in a farm house in Whitburn, may have move to south of England about 1700 but can find no evidence to support my guess.

Anyway, thanks again.

I have transcribed the 1742 Will of Edward, which is most enlightening, but it gives no help as to where Edward originated?
can you send me the will of edward maxwell please

Thank you very much for the information.   Unfortunately that disproves one possible root for for my ancestors so it's back to the brick wall.

Once again; many thanks

Hi again.  Before I close my line of enquiry would you be able to confirm that the Edward Maxwell, to which you refer, is the one born on 12/03/1667 and who inherited much his father's (also Edward Maxwell) estate in 1678.

Thank you for any further assistance.

can you send me the will of edward maxwell please

You can download the will from Family Search,
https://www.familysearch.org/en/united-kingdom/
though you need to be logged in - but creating an account is free  and simple to register

Start here:
http://familyrecords.dur.ac.uk/nei/data/simple.php

Put Maxwell into the surname box and click enter, you get the results in order of first name. Select one (or all if there aren't too many) and you see another page with a little more detail and each one has a link to the file on Family Search and from there you can read/download the document

Thank you.  That re-opens my interest.

Elinner was the wife of Edward (a yeomen) who left much of his estate to his second son Edward (his first son William having died young).  It is the destiny of this son Edward (born 1667) that I am trying to find.  Have you found any information that might suggest what happened to him please.

Many thanks
