My ancestor is noted as a solicitor in the 1841 census with no suggestion of any other occupation.  The 1840 Gazeteer referred to in an earlier post shows him in Market Place in 1840 but that is not his address in 1841 which makes me wonder whether the Post Office and Market Place was a business venture until he committed himself to a career change.

As Brie said in the previous post, always new avenues to explore and rabbit holes to go down.

This appears in a list of deputy postmasters on the GB Philatelic Society website: https://www.gbps.org.uk/information/po-appointments/dates.php

They also have the Post Office (Management) Act from the same year as Henry's appointment https://www.gbps.org.uk/information/sources/acts/1837-07-12_Act-1-Victoria-cap-33.php
Boutflower/Boutflour - Northumberland & County Durham

Hello again,

In the 1841 census he is in West Row not far from Tickle Toby Yard. The Tickle Toby is still on the High Street/Market Place with its yard down the side and behind.

I think the general consensus is that West Row comprises the buildings down the west side of the High Street/Market Place and East Row those down the east so there is the possibility he is at the same address.
