« on: Wednesday 06 April 22 18:10 BST (UK) »
L/Cpl 3228 Joe Vernon Smith 6th King's Liverpool Regt
Wounded 20 September 1917 at Ypres ?
Returned Home 29 September 1917 but transferred to Military Foot Police 15357 till 1919
There are several burnt pages survived but no mention of the MM
Can't find his Service Medal Card
Yet the Family have a 55th Div  Citation for MM 20 Sep 1917 but Serial number 241214
Is it same person
What would the Service Card Number be under ?

UK, British Army World War I Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920
Name:   J V Smith
Regiment or Corps:   The King's (Liverpool) Regiment, Military Foot Police Corps
Regimental Number:   3228, P/15357

UK, British Army World War I Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920
Name:   J W Smith
Regiment or Corps:   The King's (Liverpool) Regiment
Regimental Number:   241214

Ancestry also have a MM record for J W Smith (241214).

Looks like there's a Pension Ledger card record for a Vernon J. Smith (15357).
And another one for a Joseph Vernon Smith (P/15357).

Also, a record for J V Smith (3228) in the UK, World War I Service Medal and Award Rolls, 1914-1920 set.

Not sure if the above are one or two men. Possibly some typos with the forename initials on the various records?

In which case, it's always a good idea to search with just surname + service number(s). So many military records have just the man's initials + surname. So drop the first name(s) when searching for military records.
