Barracks locations for 25th Reg. of Foot Kings Own Borders Please.
« on: Friday 08 April 22 04:39 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Can anyone tell me where the 25th Regiment of Foot, Kings Own Borders barracks were in Ireland for:
1819-1826  - Clones (County Monaghan) Dublin (was that the Richmond Barracks?)
1832-1834 - Drogheda (County Louth) Fermoy (County Cork)  and Cork (City?)
Thanks
Tilly Ann

Dublin (was that the Richmond Barracks?)

There were at least four military barracks located on the
Historic 6" First Edition Colour Map dated 1829-1841.

Thank you again Kiltaglassan.
I'm trying to figure out what the Parishes would be for the Barracks but as you have shown there are a few possibilities.
I do know that they were at the Richmond Barracks as I found articles on them on British Newspapers Online.
It looks like Drogheda was called the Richmond Fort Barracks, the one in Clones seems to just be called The Military Barracks, Fermoy Barracks in Fermoy and presumably the Old Cork Barracks.
If I can find the Parishes I can at least see if the Anglican Church can give me some guidance on what to do next. I am pretty sure both the sons I'm looking for will be Church of Ireland as all the other sons baptisms have been and only the daughters were Catholic.
I'm slowly edging closer!
Best Wishes
