HI, I am researching Joseph Hall born about 1852 in Cornadrung, Longford Ireland. He left his family in Ireland in 1888/89 and moved to New York. The next record I have for him is his marriage to Isabella Goodwin when he was aged about 43 in April 1895. He was living in Astoria at the time of his marriage. On 6th June 1900 Joseph, Isabella and their 4 year old son James were living at 77 Munson Street, Queens. Isabella was ill and died on 9th June 1900 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Also on the 1900 Census living with Joseph and his family are Mollie (Margaret) Goodwin, Isabella's sister and Marie Ennes (possibly Isabella's mother) - maybe they were there because Isabella's death was imminent.
Isabella's grave in Greenwood also marks the resting place of Mabel Hall aged 1 (died 1903); Robert Goodwin aged 40 (died 1912) and Margaret Goodwin (died 1907). These are the only records I have found so far.
Then I found that Mabel Hall (born 2 Aug 1902) was the daughter of Joseph Hall and Susan Hall (nee Goodwin) which led to lots more questions. Did Joseph Hall marry again? Seems likely, but I cannot find a marriage record yet. If he did was Susan Goodwin related to Isabella? Seems likely, but Susan's parents on her death certificate are Robert and Bridget Goodwin and Isabella's Robert Goodwin and Mary/Marie
??. Susan died of tuberculosis on 18th March 1909 at 196 Main Street, Astoria. Did she and Joseph have another child? If so was it looked after by the Goodwins after Susan's death?
The last records I have for Joseph are:
1920 Census (living at 51 Astoria, Queens with 23 year old son James (Isabella's son) and 35(?) year old son Charles (Eliza's son born in Ireland). Joseph is down on the census as married!
1926 Death Certificate of son James - Joseph Hall father is his executor.
Thereafter I have no records of Joseph, but lots of questions. Is anyone able to help?
