William Henry Harries
« on: Monday 11 April 22 20:31 BST (UK) »
My family tree on one side of the family ends with William Henry Harries 1879 - 1938. Could anyone help? He married Elizabeth - I don't know her maiden name - and had 4 children: Billy, Florence, Lucy and Eliza (my grandmother). He seems to have been incredibly young when he married. Elizabeth went on to marry Howell Mathias 1878 - 1949 but he carried on living close by - Bevelin Farm, Saundersfoot - and left his money to Elizabeth in his probate.

Howell and Elizabeth have a daughter Lilly M aged 1 in 1901. There's a Lily Martha Mathias  registered Q4 1899 in Narbeth, mmn John

Matching births for the Harries children with mmn John

Possibly also a Daniel Phillip - twin of Florence

Interesting - 1891 in Bevelyn Hall

Thomas Harris    67
Elizabeth John    26 - servant

RG12; 4526; 91; 6;

Are you sure she married William Henry?

Q4   1892
Pembroke  Vol 11a p1769
Thomas Harries
Ellen Jenkins
Elizabeth John
William John Skone

I can find Skone/Jenkins children, so looks like Thomas was the spouse. William might be his son? Would explain why he was still alive when Elizabeth remarried!

There's a death for Thomas Harries b c1822 in Q1 1898

That death is him - have found a burial record for Thomas Harries, Bevelyn Hall, buried 28 March 1898

However, more interestingly, probate record for Thomas of "Berlyn Hall" Saundersfoot. Died 24 March 1898. Administration to Elizabeth John, Spinster

There's certainly no marriage between a William Henry Harries and an Elizabeth John - he'd only have been 13/14 in 1892!!!

There was only one William Henry Harries who died in Dec.qtr.1938 and he did indeed leave his estate to Elizabeth Mathias.    However, he is shown as born ca.1892 (not 1879) so surely he is Elizabeth's son from first marriage??

I was about to post the same. Also to note he didn't necessarily leave his estate to her - she just was given administration of his affairs, suggesting he didn't leave a will

Thank you ever so much Mabel and Annette and I'll investigate a lot further with your new info.

The only documented info I have for William Henry is the Probate and the records showing where he was living until his death, so it puts a lot of doubt as to his relationship with Elizabeth.

I know Elizabeth went on to marry Howell Mathias in 1899 and she had 3 children with him, including Lilly M.

Elizabeth did have a son called William, born in 1893, but he went on to live until 1962.

I don't know where your information is coming from but there were 2 William H Harries died in Mar.qtr.1962 BUT one was born circa 1881 (died Swansea) and the other born ca.1875 (died Worthing).

Elizabeth's son was indeed called William Henry Harries (not plain William) birth 1893 mmn John.  I still say he's the one died 1938 and his age just a year out on death entry, plus administration went to his mother of same address.

He did indeed live with his mother and stepfather.
