You were lucky that the registrar made the mistake of listing the father's name in the first place. They weren't supposed to, which is why it was crossed out as an error.

Yes, a fantastic error regardless the reason...

I can imagine from the questions when the mother was registering the birth...

Baby's name, father's name, mother's name & maiden name...Oh!...Oops  ;D
