MacLeod family born mostly in Thurso 1805-1825
« on: Sunday 17 April 22 23:24 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to find out more about some of this family eg. children William, David, Donald, & John and wondered if anyone has any clues.

I have the 1851 census for the parents, William McLeod and Barbara Tolmie, but none of the sons are present.

Happy Easter.

Do you know for sure they all survived infancy?  Have you checked for deaths?

Have you looked for marriages for them?

Have you looked for them on the 1851 as individuals?  I can see an entry for George

As you can tell, I have George's family as they emigrated.

Since my post I've found: Donald McLeod (1816-1878) married Elizabeth Cowie Jamieson and had 9 children.  Will have to check them out.  Donald died in Govan, Glasgow.

There are 8 deaths of M(a)cLeod, mmn Tolmie, before 1900 in the index at SP. Maybe some of them are yours? Though several of them are obviously far too young.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
