Over 60% of WW1 service records were burnt during the WW2 blitz.  You can look for those that remain on the subscription sites such as Ancestry or FindMyPast

Was he a family member?

? Military?
Arnside Street only stored Army Records of Dead or Discharged Army Soldiers
Not RAF Merchant Navy or Royal Navy Service Records nor Soldiers Effects Pay or Army Medal Cards
So if he was sill active post 1921 in Army he wouldn't have been stored in the Repository
Records would be in Glasgow still  now
